The Stone House
Progress towards restoration of the John Marsh House continues. The Board of the John Marsh Historic Trust has announced the formation of Friends of John Marsh. This will provide an avenue for supporters of the house restoration to help the Board in thier work.
Our next immediate goal is to persuade the State of California Park and Recreation Dept. to select the house for final creation of a General Plan. This is the first concrete step in creating the State Historic Park which is our ultimate goal. We encourage you to write to us and to your legislators if you support the creation of a Historic Park. Letters to the Editor of our local newspaper(Contra Costa Times) will also carry weight.
Our Speakers Bureau is now in full swing. If you are the program chairman or know the program chairman of any organization, civic, service or fraternal please e-mail me and I will send them a flyer with info on the Speakers Bureau. School teachers, especially 3rd and 4th grade, may also want to invite one of our speakers.
John Marsh and his house is a suitable subject for both the local and State history required by the State of California. Bob Gromm is especially good with school children and is one of our worthy speakers. Betty Maffei also hits the podium for Marsh.
