THE JOHN MARSH
HISTORIC TRUST
Becoming a FRIEND OF DR JOHN MARSH is one of the best and easiest things
you could do today!
There are no meetings, no elections and no endless parade of phone calls
and letters asking for more money.
We'll only ask you once a year to renew your Annual Support. We won't
use your support money just to get more money from you. We hate that.
We save most of your money in our Stabilization fund. We are growing
this fund as quickly as possible so we can contribute to whatever steps
the state may take to stop the deterioration of the house. We used
stabilization funds in the past to build a temporary protective tin
roof over the original roof to keep the rain from pouring into the
house. Along with those funds which were used to buy materials [at cost
thanks to Home Depot and Big B Lumberteria] went hundreds of volunteer
hours contributed by local union members. As you see, the house has
never lacked people who love it and are willing to contribute.
You will have only one task as a member of the FRIENDS. That is to
write to the Governor or the Legislature or the California Dept of Parks
& Rec or whoever else may need to hear your voice. Like any good
FRIEND we also hope you will introduce us to your own circle of friends.
When we need a letter or postcard or e-mail of support we'll let you
know, usually not more than 2 or 3 times a year. Once in awhile you'll
get a newsletter from us to keep you up to date on what's happening, and
of course we'll let you know when and if there are events relating to
the house, just in case you'd like to attend. Of course, on that great
day sometime in the future when there is a Grand Opening of the new
State Park we hope you will be there to help us celebrate.
We have no paid help, our Board Members serve without pay and pay their
own expenses. We currently spend less than 1% of our assets on annual
operating expenses for the TRUST and FRIENDS. If you would like a copy
of our Financial Statement just let us know. Thanks, we look forward to
adding you to our project.
